About Dr. Jon Rischer
Dr. Jon Rischer hails from the Northwest Missouri farming community of Maryville. Following graduation from NW Missouri State University, he attended the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry, graduating in 1987. Dr. Jon began his dental career practicing in his hometown and teaching at the UMKC School of Dentistry, where he received numerous Distinguished Teacher awards.
In December 1996 he married Dr. Valle, becoming each other’s partners in all aspects of life when they opened Woodrail Dental Center in Columbia, MO in 1998. In November 2007, the office was moved and reopened as Dentistry by Design in Columbia. Dr. Jon has committed himself to constantly learning more about the evolving field of dentistry. He has received numerous hours of continuing education.
When away from the office, Dr. Jon enjoys spending time with his children, Christian and Audrey. Their entire family enjoys playing golf. He is an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and both he and Dr. Valle provide protective athletic mouthguards to athletes at Father Tolton Catholic High School.
About Dr. Valle Rischer
For Dr. Valle Wilhite Rischer, dentistry has been a way of life from an early age. Many afternoons after school were spent at her father’s dental office in Macon, MO. She has attended Truman State University, the University of Missouri St. Louis, and finally the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry, graduating at the top of her class in 1995 as the recipient of numerous awards.
After practicing dentistry with her father and in Kansas City, Dr. Valle opened Woodrail Dental Center in Columbia in 1998 with her husband, Dr. Jon Rischer, whom she married in 1996. The practice changed its name and location in November 2007, and is now Dentistry by Design, at its present location in Columbia. Post-graduate education remains integral in Dr. Valle’s dental career so that the entire team can provide the highest quality of dental care and service to patients. She has also received numerous hours of continuing education.
Outside of her three days a week at the office, Dr. Valle loves spending time with her children, Christian and Audrey. In 2007 she ventured out as an author, writing the book “Angels on Earth.” She is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Interparish School, and is a Tolton Catholic High School parent. She volunteers regularly as a “lunch lady” in the cafeteria at Tolton. One of her favorite things to do is play golf with her family.
